Energy Law and Policy of Bangladesh in Mitigating Climate Change

  • Md. Asaduzzaman

摘要

Bangladesh, despite its minimal contribution to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, suffers disproportionately from the adverse impacts of climate change. As an active member of the United Nations, Bangladesh is committed to reducing GHG emissions through various initiatives, including the adoption of energy laws and policies aimed at climate change mitigation. This chapter aims to review the existing energy law and policy of Bangladesh to assess the effectiveness of these legal and policy instruments in combating climate change. The findings suggest that Bangladesh needs to be more vigilant in updating relevant legal and policy instruments, proactive in implementing its legal mandates, and ensuring the regulatory body’s independence and accountability.
