The Climate Change-Development Nexus: A New Development Landscape for Bangladesh
摘要
By aligning climate and development policies, Bangladesh can better manage its vulnerability to climate change and pursue long-term development and resilience. This chapter explores the significance and relevance of the climate-development nexus for Bangladesh, emphasising the necessity of an integrated approach. It delves into the primary research question, discussing why Bangladesh should adopt an integrated climate-development strategy focusing on various perspectives including developing country perspectives, donors’ perspective, climate finance, reporting and new markets’ perspective. Despite the evident benefits, this approach faces several challenges, such as institutional constraints, financial difficulties, lack of research and prioritisation, etc. This chapter outlines these challenges and presents compelling arguments for adopting an integrated approach to enhance climate resilience and achieve sustainable development. This comprehensive exploration provides valuable insights into the potential of integrated climate-development strategies to optimise resource use, capitalise on emerging markets, and achieve sustainable development goals in Bangladesh.
