Discovering the Past of Switzerland Through Archaeological Sites, an Archaeotourism Project Using Digital Communication
摘要
The “Site of the Month” (SOTM) project, which was conducted between 2015 and 2017, showcased 18 archaeological sites in Switzerland that represent all historical periods and the country’s three language regions. The project, spearheaded by the ArchaeoTourism association ( www.archaeotourism.org ) and executed by ArchaeoConcept ( www.archaeoconcept.com ), aimed to facilitate collaboration between tourist offices and heritage organizations to disseminate accurate information about local heritage based on archaeological research. Each month, a series of activities, including guided tours, events, and exhibitions, were arranged to cater to audiences at regional, national, and international levels across various sites. The ArchaeoTourism association, through centralized efforts, developed a multilingual virtual communication platform targeting a broad audience. This analysis delves into the 2 years of data from the www.site-of-the-month.ch website and various social media channels while outlining prospects for this archaeotourism endeavor.
