From Ancient Corinth to Every Corner of the World: Teaching Archaeology Through Virtual Field Trips and Flipgrid Topics

  • Eleni A. Gizas

摘要

This chapter explores online methods of teaching that retain the richness of archaeological research while maximizing engagement with non-specialist audiences around the world. Two case studies from Ancient Corinth show two different ways in which archaeology can be taught online to students of all ages. The first case study explores how virtual field trips connect archaeologists live with classrooms around the world using video conferencing platforms. The second case study explores the use of open access mini-lessons that are available through the Microsoft Education platform, Flipgrid. This chapter will detail how these two case studies are being applied by The American School of Classical Studies- Corinth Excavations and will discuss their benefits and drawbacks in the larger context of online archaeological educational content.
