Evidence Is Much but Not All: Rethinking Evidence-Based Medicine

  • Francesco Brigo

摘要

Evidence-based practice (EBP) integrates the best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. It represents a modern paradigm in medical education and practice, advocating for the meticulous evaluation of available research evidence by physicians and its application in daily decisions concerning individual patients. This chapter outlines the fundamental principles of EBP and discusses the process of its implementation in clinical practice. It emphasizes the beneficial impacts of EBP while addressing and rebutting some of its common criticisms.
