Step by Step: Approach to the Diagnosis
摘要
The process of arriving at a diagnosis is complex and involves multiple steps. It consists of examining a patient, collecting clinical data, and interpreting the findings. Clinical reasoning generally involves two stages: an initial stage, where one or more diagnostic hypotheses are generated, and a subsequent verification stage, where these hypotheses are tested and the final diagnosis is confirmed. This chapter discusses the use of Bayesian methods in medical diagnosis, which involves using prior knowledge about the probability of a disease and updating this knowledge based on new information, such as test results or symptoms.
