Resilient Leadership in the United Arab Emirates: A Comprehensive Literature Review

Purpose: to provide a comprehensive literature review on resilient leadership in the UAE, focusing on its competencies and behaviors, and examining its impact on socio-political outcomes. By exploring this specific type of leadership, the author aims to bridge the gap in understanding how resilient leadership can be cultivated and its implications for both business and political sectors in a rising nation. Additionally, this paper seeks to understand the role that resilience leadership may play within the wider context of sustainable leadership, contributing to the broader discourse on enduring executive leadership practices. This study executes an analytical and comprehensive examination of the existing body of literature on resilient leadership, with emphasis placed on the country of United Arab Emirates (UAE). Findings: 1. Visionary Guidance: Motivating their team to reach these goals and with an eye to the future, UAE leaders excel in setting long-term targets. This resonates with the nation's emphasis on not merely doing things better traditionally, but also doing new ones. 2. Adaptability and Flexibility: UAE leaders demonstrate adaptability and are highly flexible, taking risks only when they can manage them effectively and seizing all opportunities for growth at an organization level. 3. Cultural Consciousness: In the UAE, leaders actively promote an awareness of the wide range of cultures collaborating within their organizations as well as mutual trust and respect. 4. Emotional Intelligence: Comes as a crucial competence, enabling leaders to manage stress, form effective relationships, and create a healthy work environment. 5. Strategic Thinking: Resilient leaders in the UAE are strategic thinkers, capable of foreseeing challenges and opportunities, and driving long-term change and stability. Originality/value: It highlights the importance of resilient and adaptative leadership in fostering socio-political and organizational success in the country.
