In this chapter arbitrary coordinates are introduced. The laminar and turbulent Navier-Stokes equations are transformed to these coordinates in a way, that maintains the conservative properties of the set of equations. The presentation is restricted to perfect gas flow. The Navier-Stokes equations for laminar and turbulent flows including non-equilibrium thermodynamic states are given in Chap. 7 .
