How to Restore Science

摘要

This chapter shows how to restore science by overcoming scientism and its political use. In particular, we set out the case for a methodology of the human and social sciences that is scientific and yet clearly distinct from the methodology of natural science. To do so, we draw on two different types of arguments. In the first place, we base ourselves on the transcendental arguments of Descartes and Kant as well as on the linguistic and normative turn in twentieth-century philosophy. We then bring these intellectual resources together with the resources of the Austrian school from Hayek and Popper to Mises, Rothbard and Hoppe.
