Laser-assisted drug delivery (LADD), a technique that employs fractional lasers to circumvent the skin’s primary barrier, the stratum corneum, has revolutionized the administration of topical medications for dermatological and aesthetic conditions. Utilizing CO2 and Er:YAG lasers, and the innovative laser-generated microjet delivery method, LADD creates microscopic treatment zones that enhance drug delivery. The efficiency of absorption is influenced by factors such as application timing, drug properties, and laser parameters. This method has broadened the scope of dermatological treatments, encompassing conditions like skin cancers, melasma, vitiligo, scars, and alopecia, as well as aesthetic treatments aimed at enhancing the absorption of substances like botulinum toxins, polylactic acid, hyaluronic acid, and exosomes. As research continues to refine this technique, the potential applications of LADD in dermatology are expected to expand further.
