Autonomous Vehicles and Ethics: Ethical Hierarchy and N-Dimensional Model

This paper presents one way of sorting out the relationship between autonomous vehicles and ethics. The trolley problem in AI is a problem of moving objects, and autonomous vehicles also have AI functions, so people's interest in ethics has increased. Accordingly, several standards and guidelines regarding autonomous vehicles and ethics have been published in recent years. Ethics has a long history, just like philosophy, and it is not easy to understand various discussions. On the other hand, ethical problems exist and are not limited to dilemmas such as the trolley problem. This paper aims to make it easier for us to understand ethics and contribute to the development of ethically good autonomous vehicles. To that end, we first consider an ethical hierarchy, then analyze three documents, such as standards, and propose a more detailed N-dimensional model diagram.
