An On-Off MPTCP Congestion Control Algorithm for Streaming Services
摘要
In this study, we introduce a congestion control (CC) algorithm for Multipath TCP (MPTCP) streaming services, designed using the principles of dynamical systems theory. The proposed nonlinear On-Off algorithm is intended to handle variable network conditions, maintaining stream consistency at the negotiated video rate despite unknown delay fluctuations. Additionally, the algorithm provides guidelines for buffer size allocation at the receiver. Comparative evaluations against existing MPTCP CC algorithms-LIA, OLIA, BaLIA, and wVegas-were conducted in open network environments using real devices and equipment. The results indicate that the On-Off controller reduces protocol delay, jitter, and Head-of-Line blocking, ensuring high-quality streaming in mobile networks.
