Empowering Software Project Success: Guidelines to Enhance the Impact of Human Critical Success Factors

Software companies face the challenge of improving the success rate of their projects. Over time, numerous studies have been conducted to understand the reasons hindering the achievement of success in software projects. In order to compile the aspects influencing the success of software projects, a systematic literature review and an empirical study with experts in the technology sector were conducted. It was identified that both literature and experts highlight human factors as key aspects in project success. 11 human factors that can influence project success were identified. This set of factors allows organizations to understand the reasons why their projects fail, but does not provide concrete actions on how to reduce their failure rate. Addressing this gap, this research delves into the human factors and proposes guidelines that could enhance the positive impact and mitigate the negative impact on the success of software projects.
