This chapter is an interview with Sylvia Bofill regarding her recent film on Femicide [Salí a Caminar]. In the course of the conversation, several important perspectives on the subject of this book, Femicide, emerge. First, the account of the frequent occurrence of violence against women ending in murder, described by the author, gives a concrete sense of the problem. Second, the film offers a new perspective on the topic, as it takes us to what happens to the family of a victim. Third, it gives us a socio-political context, of how race, class and gender issues have an impact on these tragedies. We are introduced to the situation of female migrants from the Dominican Republic, to the class divides and to the role of money in modern PR, as well as the subtleties of the dialectic of vulnerability and power in men’s lives. As such it is a concrete example of art portraying femicide, through a domestic, personal lens by representing the loss within a family thereby also showing that the personal is the political.

摘要
