Línea de Ayuda (Helpline): Performance Practices—Silence and Voice in the Embattled Terrain of Gendered Violence in Puerto Rico
摘要
This essay reflects on four women performers’ transgenerational works that address violence in interdisciplinary ways, bringing attention to our role in this discussion as a “we”, both as women and as the audience, and the “we” of the performers. Performance has the possibility of speaking to a captive audience: a “we” that comes together voluntarily. Performativity also allows for disruption (Disruption as explained by Rocío Zambrana in Colonial Debts: The Case of Puerto Rico, when analyzing performative acts throughout Chap. 4 ), the urgent “transformation of silence into action” that poet Audre Lorde advocates for in her work.
