ICT and Its Roles in Health Development

The history of information technology goes further back from the period of pre-mechanical then followed by mechanical, electromechanical and electronic ages. Though, the efforts and shifting from analogue to digitalization were not smooth and immediate. It has now brought tremendous impacts in the global social and economic phenomena. But, still digital divide continues to be the major bottleneck in almost all domains of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development index. The rapid and continuous advancement of the information technology has brought the concept of health informatics. This progressive use of the ubiquitous connected Information Technology (IT) helps to enhance efficiency, access and quality of health care.
