The Continent of Reality

This chapter is based on recent research on emigration as a gendered, racial and classed process. Pálína’s possibilities align with the structural possibilities of a female migrant worker. She worked as a maid for “millionaires” and as a supervisor in an ironing house. However, she also transmits the lived experience of her emigration as a “Bildungsreise” and even an “adventure”.
