Living a Migration to North America

This chapter examines whether Pálína’s autobiography complicates the narrative of single females who emigrated to North America. It explores how Pálína’s emigration was facilitated by her social resources, conceptualised as “capital”. Furthermore, it investigates whether her emigration can be seen as a “Bildungsreise”, a journey undertaken in order to see the world and educate oneself.
