At the Junction between Iceland and Denmark: Family “Capital” and Transnational Ties as a Lived Experience

This chapter investigates how Pálína’s agency can be examined in relation to her transnational family history. It explores how “local history” and a collection of folklore have preserved memories of Pálína’s transnational and entrepreneurial forefathers. Furthermore, it thematises problems in using this material as a historical source. The concepts of capital and lived experience are applied to analyse these issues.
