A central concern of this thesis is to provide solid ontological foundations for some intertwined concepts in finance and economics, namely those of money, trust, value, risk and economic exchanges, to support the different actors in the financial industry to properly understand the evolution of the economy before recent innovations in the financial industry (see figure 1.1 in chapter 1).
