摘要

The world economy has shifted its paradigm from manufacturing to service to all-inclusive economy. There are a number of factors which transformed the manufacturing sector across the globe. COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, market dynamics, government reforms, changing demand of customers and technological advancements have great influence on both domestic as well as international marketplaces. This chapter aims to explore the future scope by examining the emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in supply chain management from sustainable development and business growth perspectives. It is important to create the value chain system which can make the firms more competitive. The challenges include globalization, risk management, fast-changing customer demands, waste minimization, environmental sustainability, international geo-political conditions and volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous (VUCA) factors. At the same time, there are various future prospects waiting in the forms of business analytics, digital transformation, eco-friendly practices, use of robotics, artificial intelligence, internet of things to improve the quality standards, increase production, ensure flexibility and scalability, collaboration, automation etc. In other words, the future of supply chain can be brighter enough if the firms concentrate and align their products, processes, policies, infrastructure etc. on people, planet and profits. This would create win–win situations to various stakeholders in future.
