Engineering Insights into Gasification Technology

摘要

Gasification technology is one of the most considerable technologies for the thermochemical conversion of solid carbon material into valuable products, gas, and energy. The gasification process has been well-known to the scientific and industrial community for many decades. It has also been used in many industrial applications as a primary source and a subpart of many integral processes. Based on the scientific or industrial approach, the understanding of the gasification process is still in process. However, the advanced way of interpreting and developing assessment skills for new technologies would have enabled the desired knowledge to be partly fulfilled. As science and technology progress daily, the way we understand processes in the past few decades, in recent years, and at present varies greatly. The current chapter elaborates on an engineering insight into gasification technology. This chapter also briefly explains different gasification segments, enabling us to build knowledge on a gasification process and forecast and determine the future aspects of gasification technology. Here, an idea about gasification reaction and kinetics, mechanism of reaction kinetics in catalytic gasification, gasification thermodynamics, transport phenomena in gasifying bed, and advances in research progress of gasification technology will be discussed.
