Fundamentals of Gasification Technology

Many decades ago, thermal processes like combustion were widely accepted in many industries. This became more attractive as it became production energy that is highly required for electricity generation. Those approaches are specially aligned to using solid fossil fuels, i.e., coal. After using coal for two decades, it was noticed that a depletion of coal could occur in the near future [1]. This led to finding an alternative source of solid fuel and drove us in the direction of searching for renewable solid fuel sources and making existing technology more sustainable. After a certain period, biomass was found to be an achievable and renewable solid fuel that can be used for combustion and other thermal processes.
