摘要

Packing puzzles form a huge category of puzzles that asks us to pack a set of given pieces into a frame. In this paper, we focus on one of the classic packing puzzles that ask us to pack all pieces made with five hexagons into a frame. This puzzle consists of all possible 22 distinct pieces that can be formed by five regular hexagons. These 22 pieces are separated into two groups of two different colors. In order to pack these pieces, there are some feasible frames that consist of 110 hexagons. Using these properties, we “design” a font by using this puzzle. Intuitively, you are given a monochrome pattern of a letter that consists of some pieces of puzzles. Then you can enjoy two steps of this specific puzzle: First, you have to form the letter by the set of monochrome pieces. Next, you have to pack the letter pattern into a rectangular frame with the other pieces without breaking the monochrome pattern.
