It highlights the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global rise in opioid and cocaine misuse, and the emergence of novel psychoactive substances. Comprehensive approaches to SUD treatment, including medical, psychological, and social interventions, are discussed alongside harm reduction strategies and efforts to reduce stigma. Key aspects of professional development are explored, detailing the importance of motivational interviewing skills and relapse prevention in SUD treatment.
