Decision-Making Methods: Towards Smart Decision- Making in the Digital Era

Decision Making (DM) process plays an important role in both technical and managerial strategies of a company. Either for implementing smart technologies to cope with the digitalization trend, or to perform a risk assessment by studying the interconnexion between the element of a system, or also to proceed with process improvement, it is mandatory to go through decision-making process. This step is very decisive when it comes to company’s performance, and is very complex, especially when it includes multi criteria evaluation and uncertainty: the most frequent case in the industrial field. Through a systematic literature review, this paper studies the decision-making impact on the digital industrial revolution and risk assessment process, then goes through an analysis of decision-making methods within the scope of multi criteria and fuzzy systems (complex, agent-based and discrete-event systems). An analysis was also performed to identify the most used methods and proceed with a comparison which purpose is to allow researchers to identify the most suitable method to conduct their DM process.
