Work-Related Stress Among Gynecology and Obstetrics Professionals at a Secondary-Level Hospital in Guayaquil

The present research focuses on the prevalent challenge of work-induced stress, especially prevalent in the medical profession. This study specifically aimed to assess the work-related stress among professionals in the gynecology and obstetrics sector of a second-level hospital in Guayaquil during 2021. A quantitative, descriptive, analytical, and observational method was employed. Data were collected through an online survey on the Google Forms platform, involving 139 professionals from the hospital. The results were alarming: 93.35% of the respondents reported experiencing stress, 89.63% felt increased workload pressure due to external family responsibilities, and a significant 95.4% opined that the existing healthcare personnel was insufficient for the demanding nature of their tasks. These findings not only provide concrete evidence of the high levels of occupational stress in the gynecology and obstetrics sector but also emphasize the gravity of this issue, especially in public sector hospitals. As such, these insights stress the urgent need for policy changes, emphasizing the well-being of hospital staff and addressing the root causes of such intense occupational stress.
