Control System for the Teleoperation of Kuka Youbot Robot via Wireless Communication and the Use of Embedded Cards

The environmental disasters of last years had irreparable consequences in the affected areas, making it impossible to effectively access certain areas to assess the severity of the damage. This is why, to access the hard access areas, researchers worldwide developed unmanned vehicles with the ability to travel for long distances and periods without affecting the integrity of a person. This article proposes the management of the Kuka Youbot robot through wireless communication (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) and embedded cards (ESP32-WROOM-32) to perform activities and tasks in hard access areas for humans. The control system functional testing helped determine the behavior of the components involved to obtain the desired results. In the context of the increasing need for access to hard-to-reach areas due to natural disasters, the use of unmanned vehicles is proposed to perform tasks in these areas. Through the Kuka Youbot robot, which can be controlled by wireless communications and embedded cards, it seeks to tackle challenges in sectors like medicine, industry, and rescue. The authors provide a detailed account of the design and development process of the control system.
