Comparison of Planning Features of Different Material Handling Systems

Nowadays, a lot of material handling devices and systems are applied in very different industrial processes. Based on the large differences among the practical handling systems, it is hard to develop uniform planning methods to fulfil the significantly different handling requirements. My objective in this research is to uncover the similarities and differences of many typical handling systems related to the planning process. The outcome of this activity can help to develop new, better planning concepts and practical methods for building more effective and more flexible handling systems for all segments of the industry. This paper presents the theoretical background and the structural analysis of the most often used handling system types.
