The Opportunities and Possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in Logistic Systems: Principles and Techniques

From the 80’s to the 90’s the artificial intelligence was gaining drastically more influence, it is still not spectacularly, but slowly getting into or provides support for almost every system we use on a daily basis. There are industries that are largely driven by AI systems, like the stock market or image and sound processing. That is why it is strange that in the field of engineering logistics it is used very rarely, and even then, it is not used actively but rather hidden from the operator. However, the logistics field is developing continuously. The planning, installation and management of complete systems consumes specialists and resources, which, even though they are still trying to be optimal, the opportunities and advantages offered by artificial intelligence could also be considered. It can be used in the field of transportation, warehousing, identification, security, material handling robotics and more. The purpose of this study is to examine the possibilities of the usage and effectiveness of different types of artificial intelligence, mainly machine learning techniques in key areas of logistics.
