Logistics 4.0 in the Manufacturing Company: Potentials, Solutions and Current Examples from Logistics and Production

Logistics 4.0 means the fusion of logistics with digitization, networking & automation. Whereas in 2011 one was still entering uncharted territory, today there is a secure base of knowledge in this field in the state of the year 2024. This paper builds on individual, known knowledge about Logistics and Logistics 4.0, but attempts a qualitative leap. Based on the advantages and effects of digitalization and networking, helpful thought models for logisticians are recommended and advice is formulated. These are based on the expert knowledge of the authors. Based on the fundamental improvement options, they relate to the potential of automating flows, the holistic view of the intelligent logistics space and strictly target-oriented action. Explanations are provided and many examples are given to facilitate immediate subsequent use.
