Partially Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (PAPVC)

Partially anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVCPartial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC)) comprises any abnormal drainage of the pulmonary veinsPulmonary veins to either a systemic vein or the right atrium while at least one pulmonary veinPulmonary veins drains normally to the left atrium. Surgical correction is advocated if resulting Qp/Qs is > 1.8, if all pulmonary venous return of one lung drains anomalously, or if the pulmonary venous pathway is obstructed or at risk (as in scimitar syndromeScimitar syndrome). Right-sided anomalous pulmonary veinsPulmonary veins are commonly rerouted with intracardiac baffles across the atrial septum. Left-sided anomalous pulmonary veinsPulmonary veins are usually directly anastomosed to an incision in the left atrial appendage. Surgical mortality and morbidity are low but the procedure carries thePartial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR) risk of anastomotic stenosis (including SVC stenosis) or complete occlusion. Lifelong follow-up is recommended.
