摘要

The necessity of establishing and developing a food subsystem within the framework of the regional economic system, using the example of the Krasnodar Territory, contributes to ensuring the food security of the Russian Federation. The relevance of this thesis has particularly manifested itself in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the functioning within the economic sanctions due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine, as agriculture, even under harsh economic circumstances and influenced by the external environment, has demonstrated superior rates of development compared to other sectors. Processing and distribution are vital and indispensable links in the chain of providing the population with food products. However, the increase in prices at these stages is largely due to the higher profitability compared to agricultural producers, which they embed into the price. Such a situation is unjust. The highest level of profitability should belong to agricultural producers, who fulfill the primary and most important task of ensuring food security. The Krasnodar Territory plays a significant role and occupies a special place in ensuring the food security of the Russian Federation, to which concepts such as “Kuban – the granary of Russia” resonate, as the food subsystem of the economic system in the region’s economic space is characterized by certain competitive advantages.
