Problems of Implementing Sustainable Development Goals in Regional and Corporate Governance

The research is dedicated to the challenges of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into regional and corporate governance. The SDGs were formulated by the United Nations in 2015 as an action plan to achieve global sustainable development by 2030. The authors analyzed the main challenges countries and companies face in integrating SDGs into their management strategies and practices. The theoretical and practical aspects of implementing sustainable development goals into the regional management system and the development of the corporate sector of the Russian economy are examined. The relevance, main content, mechanisms, and problems of achieving sustainable development goals are disclosed. The authors describe the Sustainable Development Agenda approved by the UN General Assembly. The authors analyzed factual data on the level of the implementation of sustainable development goals in the Russian Federation and its regions, published by the National Rating Agency. Special attention is paid to the difficulties in integrating SDGs at the regional level, where different interests and priorities can hinder achieving common goals. Conclusions and recommendations of the Accounts Chamber of Russia regarding the state and results of implementing sustainable development goals in the public sector and government administration are explored. Tasks for the implementation of sustainable development goals in corporate governance are formulated.
