Trends of the Development of the Green Economy in Russia

Sustainable development in contemporary conditions is determined not only by social, demographic, and economic stability but also by technological and ecological steadfastness. Ensuring economic growth is possible through maintaining a balance between societal development, the country’s economy, and the preservation of nature. Advancements and achievements in one area should not lead to losses in another. The integration of social, ecological, and economic realms of public life is pertinent, aiming for a balanced development of society, the country’s economy, and the preservation of nature and natural resources. The research aims to analyze the country’s level of economic development and identify key directions for transitioning to a green economy. Examining key social and ecological issues in societal development in contemporary conditions is based on the utilization of scientific works by Russian scholars and specialists. To analyze the gross domestic product and the pace of production of final goods and services within the country, as well as to assess the main indicators of the oil and gas industry, the authors apply the methods of generalization, comparison, analysis, and synthesis. As a result of the conducted research, the authors identified the challenges of societal development in today’s conditions, substantiated key directions for transitioning to a green economy, and determined the main trends of its development.
