Systems Thinking in Strategic Business Management

In 2022–2023, the cross-cutting topics of International Economic Forums were management strategies and experimental practices in shaping new contours of economic systems. Overall, there are deficits in management. First, there are anthropological deficits: people are not included in the process of managing an organization (system) as its “builders,” despite the potential for it. Employees are not engaged in analyzing the effectiveness of their activities. Second, there is a synergetic deficit: an organization is not just a system but an ecosystem. Therefore, it should be managed precisely as an ecosystem. Why do managers need systems thinking? If we consider the system as a whole, the company will be unable to solve the problem and even formulate it correctly. Structural transformation is currently an inevitable trend in the development of the Russian economy and the economy of any economic entity, regardless of ownership structure. This research discusses how systems thinking influences decision-making in business and what methodological approaches are applied. To solve organizational and management tasks, the authors applied the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ).
