摘要

Food is necessary for everyone, which does not have a substitute. Agriculture is the source of food, both crops and meat. Agriculture directly decides food security and indirectly contributes to economic growth, social stability, and environmental conservation. However, modern agriculture is facing challenges in the face of the question of sustainable development. The aim of our research is to provide a comprehensive understanding of why agriculture is important for a country and what are the risks in agriculture for a country. Our study focused on China and South Korea because these two eastern Asian countries are important contributors to world food security and economics. We conducted this research based on a literature review and content analysis as the research methodology. The value of our research is to prove the necessity of sustainable agriculture from the perspective of the importance and risks of agriculture in a country such as China and South Korea. Agriculture is and will remain an important sector for a country’s national security and beyond, which is missing or less discussed in previous research. In the face of diverse global security risks and threats trends, and agricultural vulnerabilities, sustainable agriculture is the only way to feed future generations. Beyond these research values, our comparative research provided the unique success, challenges, and global implications of agriculture from two different countries, which can also be used to compare other important agriculture countries, such as Poland in the EU.
