The Effect of Digestate on the Antioxidant Properties of Hemp Leaves (Cannabis sativa L)

Agriculture has an enormous environmental footprint. Sustainable agriculture consists of environmentally friendly methods of farming that allow the production of crops or livestock without damage to human or natural systems. Implementation of modern technological solutions in agricultural can have a beneficial effect on environmental protection, mainly due to the reduction of waste, including hazardous substances. Post-digestion matter rich in nutrients NPK can be used as a fertilizer in agriculture either in a liquid or solid form. That is why we used it in the cultivation of hemp (Cannabis sativa L.), that is a plant rich in numerous compounds such as Cannabinoids and phenolic compounds (PC) and a low content of psychoactive cannabinoids. In humans, polyphenols can display health-promoting showing cardio or chemoprotective activity. In our case, this fertilizer in various concentrations (20; 30; 50 L/ha) was used for the cultivation of industrial hemp (C. sativa), where is used in industry there are of leaves, seeds and oil. In our research, we focused on the analysis of leaves in terms of the content of flavonoids and polyphenols depending on the digestate concentration used. The content of polyphenols and flavonoids in hemp leaves decreased as the plants grew in the control sample. The obtained polyphenol values for the control sample were lower at 15.06, respectively; 9.76 and 19.87%. A downward trend was also observed when a dose of 50 L/ha of digestate was used.
