On Perception
摘要
This chapter examines diverse theories of perception, mind and consciousness. These range from Cartesian dualism and binary mind/body perspectives though more recent materialist, phenomenological and holistic approaches. Included are psychological, psychiatric and philosophical perspectives on affect, embodied cognition and the subconscious mind, including Freudian and Jungian theories. The chapter concludes with a reflection on the diverse interpretations of the concept of ‘aesthetics’, both historical and contemporary.
