Colour Vision
摘要
In we want to explore current and applications of colour we need to start with a grounding in colour vision. Vision is one way that we are able to perceive the world. Though it certainly seems as if objects in the world actually are coloured and that light itself is coloured, in fact most scientists today agree that this is not the case (Vazirian et al., in J Int Colour Assoc 34:50–60, 2023). Colour is one of the ways in which we experience the world and colours are sensations produced by the brain in response to variations in the quality and quantity of light that we perceive. To paraphrase Newton, light is not actually coloured; it merely looks coloured to us. This means that we cannot really understand colour unless we first understand ourselves.
