Fascial plane blocks are regional anesthetic techniques in which the local anesthetic is injected into the fascial plane between two fascial layers where the nervous structures run. Unlike peripheral nervous blocks, in which the nervous target is clearly visible or is located next to a vascular structure, the nerves within the bands are not visible. For this reason, they depend on a large volume of local anesthetic to cover a wide number of dermatomes. The knowledge of anatomy and ultrasound anatomy plays a crucial role for the correct execution of the procedure. The appropriate fascial block choice starts from a correct anatomical and nervous study.
