Society for Enhanced Recovery After Cardiac Surgery

ERAS® stands for Enhanced Recovery after Surgery. This Society is an international organization with enhanced recovery guidelines for several surgical subspecialties. The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Cardiac Society was established in 2017, and during the following years, many publications have been made from this organization. The goal of ERAS is to return patients to normal functional status as quickly as possible. Starting from this objective, many benefits come as a consequence. To apply in the best way the ERAS recommendations, particularly in cardiac surgery setting, a defined and structured program and team are needed.
