Common Themes Between the Governance of Human Genome Editing and Transhumanism

To determine the common themes between Transhumanism and the global governanceGlobal governance of human genome editingHuman genome editing (HGE), the Reflexive Thematic AnalysisReflexive thematic analysis (RTA) (RTA) method was applied. This chapter examines the basics of RTA method and summarises the choices and outcomes of its application to selected texts on TranshumanismTranshumanism and selected texts on the global governance of HGE. In this research, Transhumanism is represented through the three documents which Humanity+  refers to as the original documents on TranshumanismTranshumanism. The texts selected to represent the global governanceGlobal governance of HGE are the three documents published by WHOWorld Health Organization (WHO) on the topic in 2021, the only framework for the global governanceGovernance of HGE to date. After following the six steps of the RTA method, three common themes emerged. These commonalities lead to some implications for today’s BioethicsBioethics.
