Transhumanism and Its Original Documents

This chapter offers an overview of TranshumanismTranshumanism. It synthesises the origins of the word Transhumanism and its contemporary meaning. To better understand this intellectual and cultural movement, this chapter portrays some of the most influential people for TranshumanismTranshumanism, with information about their lives, education, importance within Transhumanism, and examples of works. TranshumanismTranshumanism is a vast and largely defined movement, so the currents within Transhumanism are also presented. Lastly, the chapter gives an overview of three so-called “original documents on Transhumanism”Transhumanism, according to Humanity+ (the former World Transhumanist Association). The Transhumanist Declaration, the Transhumanist FAQ 3.0 and The Transhumanist Manifesto v.4 contain essential convergences among the proponents of this movement.
