This chapter offers an overview of the global governanceGlobal governance of human genome editingHuman genome editing. It begins by explaining governance as the process of managing common issues. GovernanceGovernance is a complex process because it includes multiple stakeholders and means, beyond governments and regulations. Specifically, the global governance of human genome editing is still in its infancy. This chapter offers a comparative chart regarding relevant texts for the governanceGovernance of gene editingGene editing, including reports, callings, treaties, declarations and statements between 1975 and 2021. Lastly, the three texts published by the WHOWorld Health Organization (WHO) in 2021 (the only global framework for the governance of human genome editingHuman genome editing to date) are presented.
