The Role of Directors and Superintendents: “Lead Learner or CYA/Teflon?”

In this chapter we consider the role of directors and superintendents in creating, modeling, supporting, and monitoring ethical leadership and healthy workplace cultures in school systems in Canada, the United States, Finland, and Germany. We also provide a vignette of an ethical leadership dilemma of an American assistant superintendent, as well as questions for reader reflection.
