Coastal urban areas are crucial for urban planning, as they represent spaces where new ways of urban transformation can be implemented with the participation of the community. They are, in fact, densely populated spaces influenced by social, environmental and economic-productive dynamics: in addition, their landscape and functional value stimulates expectations of coastal development. They offer opportunities for ecological transition through environmental restoration strategies, the use of renewable energy and water quality improvement programmes. Coastal planning and management are thus closely intertwined with the evolutionary processes of the shore, requiring the integration of interdisciplinary approaches in contemporary littoral design.

摘要
