Remote Educational IoT Labs: The Experience from the DTAM Project’s IoT Hub

The use of IoT labs in education has been steadily advancing, reflecting the growing importance of IoT technology in various domains. This chapter discusses the experience from the installation and operation of four educational IoT labs operated by European education and training providers. It presents the key features of each IoT lab, as well as the measures taken for their interconnection to form an international IoT hub. Moreover, it presents the challenges the students have been asked to solve using the infrastructure of the IoT labs. The chapter also discusses a governance model for the IoT hub, as well as different funding options to sustain its operation. The chapter concludes with a discussion around the main challenges faced for the installation and operation of the IoT hub and its labs.
