Development of a Soil Moisture Monitoring System for Smart Farming

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology within agriculture has yielded substantial enhancements in the cultivation and harvesting processes. This advancement stems from its ability to provide precise real-time data, facilitating informed decision-making in crop management and consequently elevating their quality. In light of this, this study proposes the development and deployment of a soil moisture monitoring system, leveraging IoT and LoRaWAN technologies. The system enables real-time data visualization derived from ground-installed sensors, transmitted via the LoRaWAN network. The technical tests showed that the sensor can communicate with the gateway over large distances.
