Family physicians provide comprehensive reproductive care, from preconception counseling to postpartum management. As such, family medicine residents need to learn and master these skills during their training. This chapter outlines the necessary clinical skills required for evidence-based preconception counseling, prenatal care, and postpartum management and discusses maternal complications, consultative services, and the impact of social determinants on maternity health as outlined in the 2024 ACGME Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Family Medicine.
